The big man has died aged 75.
He was always on TV in the 80s during my childhood.

My good old friend who passed a few years ago used to own a pet supplies shop in our local precinct, Geoff Capes used to pop in, I believe he was a rep for a supplier. He'd often have a cuppa and a natter . Thoroughly nice fella apparently (I never met him myself)

Grew up admiring him and briefly chose the shot putt as my thing because of him. Sad to see him go. Nice to see that someone with my sort of BMI can make it to 75 though. I previously only had Jonah Lomu as a gauge and he went far too soon.

Heck, he was mentioned yesterday by a friend, then later in the day I saw him mentioned in an online newspaper article, both things happening before he died. How spooky is that!!
