I suspect he was bemused by all the social media attention which he never asked for... he seemed a kind and gentle man caught up in the media machinery.
Nice to see his family and himself assumedly, thought he had had a wonderful last year and lived life to the full. I think his positivity in a world of negativity is what chimed so much with the public.
RIP Sir Tom.
It was a sad way to finally go but at least it didn't drag on horribly for a year.
I'm sure that he WAS surprised by what happened last year, but he looked like he loved it and he had a nice holiday with his family at the end of the year.
Sad indeed. People call him for going on holiday to Barbados, but he probably knew at 100 years old that his days were numbered and thought "I've fought much bigger foes than a virus, in my life". He was an inspiration to those who haven't let and won't let this terrible time we're witnessing run and ruin their life!
