give it up dude, that ain't gonna work

rim tape is the tape that goes on the rim to protect the inner tube from any rough edges of the spoke nipples. But it won't stop the small screws being pushed right back in - you're heading for puncture city.

really ,,,theres a guy on youtube doing a demo for these and it looks quite simple ,,i plan on putting them in the outer tread blocks only so they wont b getting direct pressure to push them back through ,,and seeing how they are screwed through and not just pushed through a drilled hole i think they will b quite secure ,,studded tyres cost a fortune and iv got two new spare knobblies so i thought id give it a go:thumbsup:

I assume you mean http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SLIME-Hea...sure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item2eab7b7a69

A word of warning about puncture prevention tape though. I fitted some inside my Marathon Plus tyres (bib and braces thinking) when I first started commuting on my hybrid a couple of years ago. After a few days I got a puncture. The cause? The tape had a crease on it which had split the tube with a 3 inch cut. O.K. maybe my fault for fitting it wrong, but it's very difficult to check the tape when it's between the tyre and tube. I didn't use it again, and I'm now done over 9,000 puncture free miles.

Probably a bit off-topic, but if you are fitting Marathon Plus tyres, choose your rim tape carefully. I originally went for quite a heavy duty fabric tape.

It increases the diameter of the well of the rim, and secondly, the rough surface stops the bead sliding round the well easily. With new tyres, the net result was a full house of very sore fingertips.

its just a reg set of mtb knobblies iv got ,,nothing fancy ,,the tapes maybe not ideal though acc to above !!!du think i could line the inside of the tyre with proper gaffa tape (mesh backed and pretty strong )before the tube is fitted ??

the guy on youtube lines it with an old inner tube befor fitting the new one ,,im not convinced that an inner tube will resist the potentially puncture making screw heads,,did u mean line with them or fit them for the punctures hahahaha
