I'm not sure exactly what you mean, perhaps you should proofread your posts before submitting them next time?!

But on the first point, I would think you need rim tape regardless of how well put together your spoke junctions are. But all wheels I've ever known come with rim tape already. Surprised your Secteur didn't..?

Not sure what "I got a ... tyre to fit" actually means. Do you mean you bought an inappropriate size tyre but managed to fit it anyway? Or do you mean "the right specced size"??

On the second point I assume you mean "TPI" not "tip"? That would be threads per inch, and is a measure of the suppleness and strength of the tyre I think. The higher the TPI the greater the number of steel fibres per inch, ie each fibre is narrower and the resultant weave is stronger and more flexy at the same time. I could be talking shash though.

Your Spesh will almost certainly have rim tape fitted already. Pretty much every standard clincher wheel needs rim tape.

Did you get DT Axis wheels or Fulcrum's when you bought the bike? In either case there should already be rim tape on them. It sounds like there is and you're just seeing the indentations caused by the tape already sitting over the holes. Failing that, £2 for some tape from your LBS.

Yup, just checked on a new Rubino tyre I've got ready and waiting and it's 150 TPI.
