Rim Issue??

Hi all

Hope this is OK to post in here but looking for advice/help.

This morning I had a puncture whilst on the turbo so I changed the inner tube. However, I ended up with a bulge by the valve which kinda made using the turbo a bit weird.

So, I thought I would try a different tyre and tube but got the same issue so what is going wrong?

I have included some pics just to show I can change tubes lol. The first pic (with the blue rim) is seated fine according to my eyes. Now, this is the actual tyre and tube that I used on the first change after the puncture but still gave a bulge on the wheel I use on the bike which is the wheel in the other pics

Now, I know there's a different tube (in pics 2 and 5) but both tubes gave the same result. On the second pic, you can see that the tyre isn't seated properly and is even more pronounced when inflated

What is happening??

Before you start inflating the tyre push the valve stem away from the centre of the wheel, this will enable the tyre to seat properly as the pressure increases.

I always run an old magnum ice cream stick around the tyre between it and the edge of the rim to check nothing trapped before inflating. Both sides of tyre obviously!

I’ve exploded tubes before adopting said technique which is annoying and costly!

After getting a tyre's second bead in place I methodically check for a trapped tube by working my way round the entire circumference 'rocking' the tyre away from the rim edge each side, about every 4".

Sorted, I just had a complete brain-fart earlier. I normally do all of the above but when it didn't work the first time, I thought there was a problem with the actual tyre - they are on their last legs so get used on the turbo. When I got it to work perfectly on the second wheel but then not again on the original wheel, I was looking for a problem that wasn't there.

A bit like the time I tried to put in a tube with a small length valve into a deeper rim and then not being able to work out why I couldn't attach the pump to inflate the tyre lol

You can get valve extensions which solve this problem.

I eventually twigged what I was doing and just put in a tube with a longer valve!
