I am looking for a bit of inspiration for road rides to try from South London (I live in Dulwich).

I cycle to work regularly but looking to venture a bit further afield into the countryside for rides about 40 to 50 miles. This could be either cycling out from London or getting a train to somewhere a bit more remote.

I have done Ashford to Tunbridge Wells NCN18 route which was great as well as a loop from Tunbridge Wells to Sevenoaks via Bough Breech (although took a wrong turning so didn't go up Ide Hill but instead walked up Stubbs Wood which was VERY steep!).

Any suggestions?

Hi there.
If you are looking for leisure cycling rather then the club scene, then Bromley and Lewisham Cyclists organise rides into the Kent country side. Southwark Cyclists is another port of call for rides

Bromley & Lewisham Cyclist have ride from Hildenborough this Saturday of 45 miles
Details Here

West Kent CTC also organise rides

On Sunday's there is the CycleChat London ride
From Bromley, rapido through Lewisham, New Cross & Vauxhall to meet at Hyde Park Corner for 9.30am, then at a more leisurely pace to somewhere for coffee/tea & cake.

Check out the thread in the CC & Informal rides section for this thread

Thanks for the info, I didnt know aboutthat group. Last year I used to cycle from Brixton to Brighton or Whitstable among others, and come across groups of mostly friendly cyclists and cycle groups. Never got their names though  As soon as the weather improves for me, then I will be out and about looking for long rides, so I hope to see you out there

Here for rides.
Chichester, Arundel, Bognor, Brighton, Eastbourne, Battle, and Hastings are all worth a look and have ok rail links back to the smoke if the out and back mileage is too high.
