i have just ridden over a pot hole & my rear wheel now has a lovely oval shape to it, obviously as the rim is a little on the spongey side

I am trying to find someone who supplies retro looking wheels (for single/track) that are strong ?

anyone any ideas, thx for your help in advance

i assume the hub is fine so if its a retro hub have the wheel rebuilt, if the rim is fine just take it to a bike shop.

If rim is ovalised rather than buckled - it can be rebuilt, usually.
Depending on condition of the spokes & nipples it may be possible to do it yourself.

Alloy ages. Straighening a bent rim MIGHT cause fractures within the metal. You may not see them.

Tried once. Spoke eyelet pulled right out. Mavic MA from 1981.

rim reminds me of when you drop plastercine on the floor !! obviously these rims are too soft & need to be junked. I am hoping to get old style looking wheels to go with an old style looking frame, but may have to compromise eg Amrbosio Excellence (suggested to me today).

More retro but absolutely great are Mavic Open Pro's - the 'Open' design has been used since the early 90's - - rounded profile rims, without going deep aero, and they are bomb proof - I've used Open 4 CD's for years until worn out.....

open pros are great, used to have a set and I still toy with the idea of getting rid of my velocity set and getting them again instead
