my bike was orginally a 7 speed wheel frameset .
when i resprayed it and replaced the wheels ( mavic cosmic elites ) i put on an 8 spd casette. the bikeshop i bought the wheels fitted the casette and wheels to bike , so i presume all they done was spread the frame to take the wheel .
the bike has the orgional chainset although i changed inner one to a 39 tooth. i have sti levers fitted ( i think they are 9 speed but lbs where i bought them said they will work with 8 speed too , but will have to disengage cable and count the clicks on them )

i was thinking of upgrading to 9 speed transmission ? i was hoping with this option of only needing a new 9 spd casette?

or go all the way and go to a ten speed transmission ? would be cheapest to buy the groupset as just buy the parts essential to the upgrade !!

components are shimano 105

would this be dimensions of dropouts
rear dropout widths
7 speed 126 mm
8 speed 130 mm
9 speed 130 mm
10 speed 130 mm

i know the cheaper option would be to go and buy a modern bike , but i have kept this bike for 20 years and at this stage would not be replaceable!

If its 130mm then i dont see why it wouldnt fit?
on my cheap fixed, its spaced at 130mm, but the hib is a 125, and i just bend it in no problem.
Suprising how easy it is aswell
