not sure if this is the right place or if it is old news, but if you are in the Teignbridge area use ts@teignbridge.gov.uk to report " broken glass or excessive hedge thorns on the road"

tried that on our local council site ....... guess what never heard back or saw any action taken over it

I usually use Fix my street as then I don't need to think which council area I'm in. And I it usually results in the problem being dealt with when its clearing up glass etc.

My local council seem to be refusing all reports made from fix my street (haven't tried Street repairs above).

They email back with an automatic message directing you to their own report page which doesn't seem to be dealt with as efficiently as when they accepted fix my street repairs reports.

In one of the cycling lanes on one of my regular routes someone has left believe it or not a full broken windscreen. Not only that but it's right next to one of those little traffic islands so you can imagine thoughts of the drivers behind me as i move out to avoid it. It's been there for 5 days as i know of. I'm sure if you're involved in a RTA you're supposed to get someone to clean up the glass?

I still like the openess of Fix My Street and would even be prepared to log it on their system as well .... just so that it didn't disappear into a black hole!!!

Seems to do bugger all reported loads on there only to get nothing done.
The council don't mark it as fixed when it's done, it's up to the person who reported it. Normally they send you an email asking if there is any change. One of mine took 6 months to get fixed but I'm still pleased they did it. I managed to get a road sign moved!

The easier option IME is to get off your bike and kick the offending glass to the side of the road/path. Relying on public services of any kind these days is a waste of time. Thorns from freshly cut hedgerows may prove to be more problematic; Schwalbe Marathon+ tyres being the obvious solution, but only for non speedsters.

Or failing that kick the tw*ts that put the glass there :boxing:

Must admit tried the same on my daily cycle path commute to some success

The windscreen and other bits from the RTA have been cleaned up. Well done Hyndburn Borough Council!!:okay:
