Hi all

i have a hybrid specialized sirrus 2011 model which i have been using for commuting to work and a good weekend cycle. Ive done about 800 miles on it so far and now the rear tyre is starting to get pretty slick ( to the point i came off it this morning but think that was more user error on a slightly damp redway). its got the original tyres it came with which were Specialized All Condition Sport Tyres. is it best to stick with them, or is there anything better out there which i can get for the same price? (circa £20)

thanks matt

I'd use em until they wear out. My definition of wearing out is when they start getting significantly more punctures than normal/no rubber left/tyre getting fatter - about to explode - ahh, I don't think they'd be that badly worn after 800 miles.

Just take it easy in the wet.

My front tyre on the touring cycle is starting to get a bit smooth ... after 20000 miles! The rear tyre lasts about half of that, much of the distance being fully laden for camping. The Brompton tyre, being much smaller, lasts about 5000 miles on the rear and until it rots on the front!
