replacing sora

it may seem a dumb question but....

i have a giant defy 2 (2011) with sora shifters that i want to upgrade ,will tiagra shifters fit and does anyone know any others that would work .
im not getting on with the little thumb shifter on the sora.

All the Shimano road shifters will work for the same speed setup they are designed for so a 9 speed Tiagra shifter will work fine with a 9 speed Sora mech and cassette. Also Microshift work with Shimano

I reckon a punk upgrade is probably better - 10spd 105 shifters, 10spd cassette and run them on what you have now.

I have used microshift and its as good a system as any, great as a cost effective option, when i needed to replace 1 sram apex shifter i was quoted £200, i could just about get a complete 10 speed microshift groupset for that .
