I had a bit of an accident yesterday, nasty fall off my new Boardmin Hybrid Pro, bashed myself up a bit, but have wrecked my rear mech, a few scratches on the bike and of course dented pride

I will need to replace the rear mech, SRAM Rival, short cage, I was thinking of getting the med/long cage version and replacing the rear cassette, currently 11-28T, with an 11-32T.

Question is, would this work and would it be better for climbing ?

Appreciate any feedback

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Do you ever use the 28 tooth with your small ring for hills?
I have the road comp which weighs about the same weight and i just changed from a 11-32 to a 11-28 as i never needed to use the lowest gears and i wanted a bit of a closer range cassette as i found the 11-32 had bigger jumps in gear ratios.

In between here and there
Pretty sure the long cage will work with the SRAM 11-32, downside will be it will get very gappy so if you are spinning @ 90 and change down suddenly you are grinding.

As an aside if the crash was bad enough to wreck with rear mech do not forget to get a new rear hanger as this will probably be bent as well.

Damn! Sorry to hear that.

I couldn't see anything on the SRAM website, but someone asked the same question on another forum and the answer appears to be "yes it will work".

And yes it will be easier on the hills. Personally I would ditch the 11 tooth cog and start with a 12, but it's no great odds.
