Would I be right in thinking that to replace my one piece crank I 'just' need to source a bottom bracket and arms (with right size two cog front) plus pedals or is there more involved such as only certain brackets will fit my bike etc?

I know this is a very badly worded question but my brain is fried at the mo.

Thanks in advance, Dave S

The bottom bracket, crank set and pedals can all be replaced seperately.

To replace the crankset you will need a Crank Remover in addition to day to day tools such as spanners ans socket set. To replace the bottom bracket you will need a bottom bracket remover in addition to the above.

If your replacing the bottom bracket you will need to measure the length of the spindle on the existing one - it will be between 100 and 130 mm.

You may not need to replace the whole lot. What are the symptoms?

Thanks both. Currently I have a one piece crank and caged bearings which are collapsing every 100 miles or so. It has been suggested to me that the bottom bracket has become oval and thus the bearings are failing because of this.
