I appear to have lost a speedplay screw from my cleat and the replacements are stupidly expensive (£5 for 8 screws!!)
I'll be calling the LBS tomorrow to see what they can do, but does anybody know of any reputable hardware online store which can be trusted not to steal my bank details to fun staff jollies to majorca etc etc

Assuming they are standard metric coarse threads, they are readily available from Stig's Fasteners, in stainless steel too. I have used them many times. Their products and service are A1.

Aggressive yes, but not unexpected.

Generally companies who make replacement/pattern parts in situations like this do so under licence, this person obviously didn't & as such stepped on speedplays toes.

From what I read they were just supplying standard components available from industrial suppliers with instructions on how to fit them. No mention is made of manufacturing.
When i had to replace a missing spike in my V8 pedals I got a pack of screws from farnell which were the same item evans were selling as replacements after they sent me 3 packs of the longer ones !!!
