Hello all,

So as some of you may know I bought myself a Wilier GTR back in February of this year. It is my "special" bike so I generally only ride it on weekend rides and use my Giant as the regular hack. As such I've probably clocked up around 10-15 rides on it since then (work shifts so can't make it out every weekend before people say it's my own fault)

Anyway back to the point, I was out for a ride on Thursday on my own and the left crank came off completely. There was no sheering, a little bit of play beforehand but I put this down to my cleats. Fortunately I was only a few miles walk to a shop that patched it up enough to get it back. My concern is that this is still a pretty new bike, I bought it from Tri-UK in Yeovil but didn't take it in for a 6 week check as I don't drive and it's a long and expensive way for me to go. Now in the interests of full disclosure I did get hit by a car whilst on it about 1 month after buying it but got it checked out immediately and they couldn't see anything but slight cosmetic damage.

My question is what should I do? Is it worth speaking with Tri-Uk if I do have to replace the BB or would you just write it off as one of the expenses of cycling?

The 6 week check is nothing but a cable tweak and quick visual, so IMO this would not have picked up any issues with the crank arm even if the problem was present at that time.

It's a straight forward warranty issue IMO, call Tri-UK tomorrow and arrange to get it to them for fettling, simple.
