Hi all,

This is probably a newbie question. I've searched the forum, but couldn't find the answer, so here goes:

I've got a mountain bike (very basic model, cheap groupset) that doesn't have quick release wheels. Is it possible/hard/expensive to convert the front wheel to be quick release?

You can replace the current solid axle with a hollow one. There's a tutorial here.

You'll need the tools and wotnot described in the video, a hollow front axle, and a quick release skewer.

Front axles can be slightly different in their sizes (diameter, thread etc.), so if in doubt take your wheel down to your LBS and get their advice.
