Had my back wheel buckled this evening.... Is this repairable or does the wheel have to be replaced?

Have a couple of fast descents on my commute and this obviously worries me. It's an American Classic Hurricane rear wheel.

That will depend on how bad it is

Will do in the morning it's a bit dark at the moment.

Is this sort of thing likely to be expensive? Or very specialist?

It is difficult to say blind. It could be a simple matter of a few turns of a spoke key or the rim might be distorted and need replacing.
Wanted to give an LBS a bit of business after purchasing the bike from a chain.

Didn't have the bike with me but bloke said it should be repairable cost about £18. Giving the bloke a bit more info it suddenly dawned on him it was an insurance job.....his eyes seemed to beam and it was now definitely a new wheel and 'the frame might be bent' etc etc I could see the £ signs rolling in his eyes

Said I'd be back in the morning with my bike (like hell I will be)

I'd like to think I'm a fair and reasonable guy so I'd like my bike back in its original state. Anyone else think the LBS is out of order?
