Hiya
I went to mount my trusty steed this morn but found it with a flat front tyre.
I disconnected the entire wheel from the forks and went to look for the offending breach, which was a needle thin piece of metal. grrr!
I extracted it and applied some rubber solution to the hole.
Is this the correct procedure? ive never attempted to fix tubeless before y'see!

Assuming that they are the same as tubeless motorcycle or car tyres - you normally have to insert a gluey plug in to the hole and let it set before inflating. Can't believe that just a splodge of glue on it';s own is going to do much.

BUT I've never had tubeless cycle tyres.

I thought they weren't supposed to get flats like that?

If you're out and about and get a flat on a tubeless setup won't that be a bigger problem than if you got one in a normal tubed tyre?

If it's a proper tub - you should ideally carry a spare tyre and maybe a tin of the inflater/sealer.

To get them fixed involves removing the backing tape and unstitching, then repairing the tube. Best get them sent away for a few quid to be repaired if they are a good tub.

So you go to all this trouble to save on the weight of an inner tube, then carry a whole new tyre and a tin can! Brilliant :0)

The modern double sided tape for road tubs and for instance the (quite cheap Vittorio Rubino's) allows you to roll off the punctured tubeless tyre and roll on a new one no problem. In my experience its quicker and easier than replacing a tube. Just keep it properly inflated after though!!. I wouldnt use the tape for more than one change though. ;). I may have been lucky but its been fine for me for the past couple of years since I got a set of GP4s.
