I've got an ugly old Mountain bike that I use for commuting, and amongst other ucly features it has some bright yellow letters that I'd really like to get rid of There's a limit to the level of ugly I can tolerate). The letters seem to be stickers, not transfers, as I can feel the thickness of them. They don't seem to be under any varnish.
So far Turpentine substitute has had no effect, and heating the letters with a hairdryer made one corner slightly melted after a good five minutes of heat, but it then took the paint off with it.
Any other ideas? I wondered about Nitro thinners, also sold here as lighter fuel. I really don't want to go all out and sand the whole frame off -yet- as this is supposed to be a backup that I can take to higher theft risk places, not a pet...
