Removing the factory fitted handlebar grips

Is there an easy way of removing these grips? I would like a straighter handlebar but I don’t want to destroy these lovely grips.
Have you any advice please?

If you can get the little red straw of a can of WD 40 or GT 85 under the grip and give it a squirt and leave for a few minutes they’ll wiggle off.

You can even take them off with water. Put a thin screwdriver down, pull it up to give some clearance and pour it down. Only needs a small amount to get the grips moving.

I use electric contact cleaner spray with a straw. Works like the WD40/GT 85 method but leaves no residue. Works the same for putting them back on too.

I know you don't want to destroy them but to offer another view....

I've never reused a grip I got with a bike, the last one I got were very cheap rubber style and I just cut them off.

I use Ergons now, GP2 are my favs.

Yeah, they look like the sort of rubber that eventually goes sticky. Yuk.

A thin screwdriver and squirt of washing up liquid and they will come off easily. Its also the best way to get the new ones on.

For rubber, and plastics, that go sticky I wipe them down with IPA, when they do, and let it evaporate. Sorts them out for ages.

You can give that a go, but isopropyl alcohol is a bit less messy.

I tried every local chemist and none of them sell isopropyl alcohol.
