Just a pedal spanner. Remember the left hand pedal has a left hand thread.

Ah, just remembered, if they are Looks, you will need an allen key as they don't generally have spanner flats.

You can pick them up for around a fiver. Halfords do a good one which has plastic "cheeks" each side of the jaws to protect your alloy but that is a bit dearer.

A pedal spanner is simply a 15 mm spanner that is thinner at the spanner end. You might get away with a normal spanner if there is sufficient space.

AFAIK, Shimano SPD SL's have spanner flats.

SPD-SL have an allen key fitting so that you don't have to use a pedal spanner, although they do have spanner flats aswell, but I am not sure about the spd's.

Ok I have made the change....SPD SLs have pedal spanner fittings, spanner flats and allen key fittings - though allen keys didnt seem to work for me - not enough leverage. Spanner did the trick

Eh? Is that a Keo thing? I use a spanner on all my Deltas as the allen key thing is a bit of a fiddle with a multitool.
