I'm not really a beginner, but my brain refuses to remember how to do this!? :surrender:

Is there any easy way to remember?

I vaguely remember something like - you move the crank arm (on the side you're facing) so that it's pointing towards the front wheel - place the spanner pointing the opposite way and push down. Is this right? :welcome:

right is right, left is wrong.

The pedal on the left has a left hand thread and therefore unscrews clockwise.

The pedal on the right has a right hand thread and therefore unscrews anti-clockwise.

Yup, that'll work.

Yes, there is avery easy way to remember, but it might not help you.

The left pedal has a left hand thread and the right one has a right hand thread. If you have ever done any engineering then that is all you need to know.

Everything you would normally come across for DIY etc has a right hand thread, so the left pedal is turned the opposite way to the way you would screw a domestic screw.

Isn't that the wrong way round? LH pedal unscrews clockwise and RH pedal unscrews anti-clockwise. Facing the bike from the back. Correct if facing the bike from the front, but then you don't do that unless you're a circus performer. Or showing off.

I could be wrong as I usually look it up in a book first.

ChrisKH is correct (assuming one is looking at the bike from the side in such a manner that the pedal is nearer to the mechanic than the crank is to the mechanic).

To put pedals on the spanner points to the front of the bike and push down. To take them off the spanner points to the back of the bike.
