I hope a simple yes/no answer will sort this out. Will ordinary paint stripper such as Nitromors remove the laquer coat on a bike frame? I think it will but just making sure before spending my money.

I have been rubbing down a frame and to remove the transfers and decals I had to rub through the laquer before I could get to them. It has taken hours! I have got rid of all the logos and decals but it will be murder with sanding blocks doing the nooks and crannies and the chainstays.

Commercial stripping and painting is not an option.

It will take the lot off paint and all right down to bare metal.

Remember that some - not a huge amount but some - frames are shot peened and using abrasives compromises the finish.

Gasket remover is better than paint stripper. Paint it on, let it dry,.peel it off.

Nitromors is useless these days, ever since they removed the ingredient that did the actual stripping due to 'elf and safety.

If you want some proper paint stripper with a goodly quantity of dichloromethane in it, that works, get some Starchem Synstrip. I've used it for years now, not cheap but very effective and highly dangerous. Don't mess about with it. [edit] you may make out that I'm not wearing gloves below, this stuff burns if it gets on your skin, even my tough old leathery skin!

I have stripped a few frames in the past .nitromors has worked well on some but not so well on others .You may have to do it 2/3 times .I used a wire brush and a scrapper after each coat of nitromors
