Removing external BB - big problem

Seems the bottom bracket was over-tightened whenever it was installed, either that or me using a crappy removal tool. Whichever it is, the bottom bracket to tool interface has pretty much sheared off, leaving nothing for the tool to connect with. I did buy the proper Park tool for the job, but by then there wasn't enough of it left for it to grip. I've tried some adjustable pliers, but that didn't work either.

I've got the non-drive side off, and its currently had a bit of WD40 sprayed on it, so I can try again with the pliers in the morning.

If that doesn't work, then I'll have to go into the bike shop. Are they likely to be able to get it out without damaging the frame? There is still plenty of the external bearing there, just not the bit the tool usually grabs onto. Hoping they will be able to cut or drill it out without damage.

Feel like a right idiot, as I should have just waited till I got the proper tool, rather than using the cheapo one I already had.

Anyone has experiences of this?

Are you going the right way, the drive side undoes clock wise looking straight on to it i think.
