Just let my son(12) have his first road solo ride, only to the other end of village to the cafe and back, but I was still a nervous wreck He was of course absolutely fine and enjoyed it. Don't think I will let him on any of the other roads though as they are 60 limit country roads. At what age would you consider letting your child out on bigger rides solo? Or would you judge it more on experience and maturity of the said child to deal with things?
Only had the Luath 4 weeks now but he's already gone from a child who never went cycling to now really enjoying it and now ask's us to go out on the bike, brilliant news

Pleased your son made it back safe. I guess (when mine get to that sort of age) it would probably be decided on experience and maturity on the road rather than solely on their age.
