Hi everyone. Have been riding around 3 years and im Currently riding around 150 miles per week. Ive Signed up
to do some sportives in the summer and i am following a training plan. I have spd-sl cleats, can anyone recommend power meter pedals that are compatible, maybe thinking about the favero duo. Also has anyone used the garmin rally rs100 pedals as ive came across these online?
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

A lot of the power meter pedals use Look cleats rather than SPD-SL which is fine, you'd just need to change the cleats on your shoes.

Getting a power meter can be useful - I find them so - but you do need to have an objective in mind. I find them good for pacing, on longer rides I hold back on power to pace better, they're also really good for training if you follow a clear plan.

The favero's do seem to have the highest reviews overall, Garmin Rally's seem to do OK but I've no experience of either. Any particular reason you've opted for pedals rather than a crank based option?

I have only ever used crank based, but I am one of the old BR forum members and quite a lot of the guys on there used Favero's and pretty much praised them unanimously. I can't remember specifically, but there was quite a lot of talk about cleats, if I remember correctly, of all the compatible brands, some worked much better than others (but I can't remember which ones!). Hopefully one of the guys will pick up on this thread and give more advice.

You can also check out https://www.dcrainmaker.com/ as he has in depth reviews of pretty much every PM ever made.

I have used Garmin Vector 2 dual sided, , and still use 4iiii lh cranks, and one set of the Faveros, when Sigma had a great deal one day.

The Faveros are definitely (for me and going by most reviews) the pedal PM of choice, if you are not looking at a complete crankset setup etc etc, those I have never tried.
I ride Look anyway, so no issue for me, but you can buy the below if you are stuck on Shimano pedals.

Favero Assioma Duo-Shi Powermeter Pedal Axle Kit

I believe you replace the axles of your original pedals.

Conversely, I only have experience with crank based power meters, I currently have two 4iiii Precision (one LH only, one Pro Dual side) which give very comparable power numbers and I'm really happy with both. I've also got a Powerbox dual sided power meter which I got for reasons.

All of them seem pretty reliable and give good numbers as you would expect, if I was getting a first power meter then I'd go with the LH crank option as it's the most flexible - if you have more than one bike with the same crankset (e.g. Shimano) it can be moved quickly between bikes (easily as quickly as moving pedals) and shoe type isn't an issue.

I had the precursor to the Favero Assiomas, the Bepro. It worked fine and was consistent once set up correctly. I believe the new versions are even better in terms of ease of setup and portability.
The slight issue with the old model was you had to put a shim in some cleat shoe combinations to stop them rubbing the body of the axle based meter. Hope that is now rectified.
