Recommendation for quality headset

Can anyone recommend a quality, sturdy and durable headset for off-road use?
Any experience with these?

Both my road bikes have Cane Creek headsets, on for 5 and 6 years respectively. Still as smooth as silk and never needed adjusting.

When I had my tourer built, I gave Dave Yates a free hand to choose what he thought was good. He fitted Cane Creek. No problems in several thousand miles.

I would 4th Cane Creek too. The s-3 if on a budget.

about the most indestructable off-road headset around is the FSA Pig DH pro.. I've abused them beyond belief..and never had one fail... cheap as chips too ..

I prefer FSA to Cane Creek, not because there's much difference in use, but when I try to get replacement bearings the FSA ones are available from any bearing stockist in a way the Cane Creek ones aren't. On One have some good offers on FSA headsets, I'm using the MX ones on a couple of bikes and like them.

Hope this isn't considred off topic, but I read somewhere that it's often cheaper with many cartridge bearing headsets to search out a new headset than try to buy the bearings separately, especially from a bearing shop.

Any truth in this?

Are any headsets in particular good for using easily obtainable spare bearings?

Caution - this post/experience is slightly based on experience with Dahon, on which very little is standard

I've had good service from a Token carbon headset (with ceramic bearings). Like Hope, not the cheapest, but durable and replaceable bearings.

I have a Cane Creek on my Orange. Not much choice in 1", but it's still good after a couple of years despite being a budget one.
