Interesting that there is a frame refurb thread started today mentioning Argos in Bristol.
I went into my local bike shop - South Downs Bikes in Storrington, Sussex to ask if they did full restorations of classic bikes as I am thinking of getting my 1955 Raleigh Super Lenton completely refurbished (see my clearing out a couple of sheds thread in the Classic section).
Essentially they said they don't do that sort of thing, but recommended Argos in Bristol for frame restoration.

I would still like to find someone locally who could carry out the complete works on the bike, even if they do send the frame off for that part.
Does anyone know of, and/or can recommend a classic bike restorer, ideally in or near West Sussex?

Thanks

I would say that a full restoration would far exceed the value of the bike. The frame re-stoving is a good idea but the cycle parts would be the stumbling block.
Far better to clean, polish and refurb those yourself, it isn't difficult but it is time consuming. Plenty of 'how to' vids on T'internet.

Having visited Argos I can say that they do an absolutely fantastic job and would be my first choice. They're easy to deal with too, well worth the travel.

Look for a mobile bike mechanic in your area - they may be more amendable to doing these sorts of jobs as they don't have a shop to run. But we always tell our customers that vintage/classic restorations can be very expensive as there is usually a lot of labour involved - sometimes it can prove difficult/impossible to get parts and may necessitate get bits machined - depending on make/model of bike

@Fab Foodie why were you visiting Argos? Surely you are not having another new bike made ?
The bottom bracket shell at the threads on the adjustable side of the BB on the Holdsworth were stretched and the bearing cup would not stay tight, so Argos reamed and sleeved it and now it's good as new!
I took some photos ....
