I've looked at:

Mavic
Easton
Shimano
Campagnolo
Fulcrum
DT Swiss

...and can't find anything suitable.

They need to have a good spoke count - 24/28h minimum.

Price £200-250 max. for pair.

I thought the Easton EA70s looked pretty good but sold out everywhere now.

I also considered some handbuilt Shimano 105 hubs on 36h Rigida Chrina rims - would be about £150 but not very light or flashy!

Have a look at American Classic - might be just outside your price range, but they get good reviews.

Failing that, Fulcrum 5's are cracking wheels. Lower spoke count than you specified, but I've been running mine for 12 months nearly with no problems and I'm the wrong side of 15stone.

Definitely back up the Fulcrum 5's, I've got some and I'm 14 stone, they're not the lightest wheels but they do roll really nicely. Mine are really quiet too, lots of people said they're quite noisy from the freewheel.
