Following my near death experience last night:rolleyes: , see thread entitled 'pushed myself too hard and went too far' I only just realised that I could have warm and dry feet if I had some good overshoes. I don't get much time to trawl the internet as I work alot and spend the rest with family or on the bike. I looked at a few on wiggle but unless you spend over £80 most of the sub £40 ones have mixed reviews. There doesnt seem to be a universally liked overshoe that does the job of keeping the rain off and feet warm, not at that price range anyway. Please tell me what overshoes you are using with success, thanks

i use to have the bbb waterflex and really loved them did a cracking job of keeping my feet dry(as dry as they can be with a hole in the top), but after 2yrs when the zip failed i went for planet x over shoes and i dont like them, really struggle to keep feet dry at all. will be getting a new pair of the waterflex soon.can be found for around £25 or cheaper.

to be frank the overshoe will get to a point where it will eventually let water soak in but warm feet yet wet

endura neoprene material one is a decent pair to have. these are the ones im referring too.
if not maybe sealskinz socks may be an option. a lot of people i know use these and swear by them

BBB Hardware Aquashield (BWS-04).I don't use them a awful lot but have cycled a few times in torrential rain (only up to one hour though) and shoes and feet were dry at my destination. Obviously, you need to overlap the overshoes with waterproof overtrousers and clip in place around the top of the overshoe. For wearing over standard training shoes (rather than cycling shoes) I think the front part of the overshoe seems marginally bulbous - maybe it better suits a cycle shoe?

Haven't used them for long rides in hot weather but imagine they could get a bit hot. Still highly recommended though.

did you get anything irishrich? was looking at these myself, for silly brightness and protection

I don't remember how I came across them but I ended up going for these: http://www.louisgarneau.com/in-en/product/0/1083073/_/NEO_PROTECT_SHOE_COVERS
Think I bought them on amazon after reading dozens of positive reviews and they weren't pricey at around £20. I've been out in heavy rain just twice with them on and can say they kept my feet warm and comfy for the entire time although water did eventually get through but that will happen with all neoprene covers.

They stop water coming vertically downwards directly onto your foot. All that happens is that water runs down your leg and pours in at the ankle, or comes in upwards from the road spash via the open bottom of the sole. Just wear socks that retain heat when wet. In a downpour, you get wet.
