The shifting, particularly on the rear when dropping down the cassette, on my Boardman CX Team is becoming noticeably worse of late, so I figure it's time to treat the bike to new cables, it has done 7500 miles now... I plan to do the bar tape at the same time, so will be changing both inners and outers on gears and brakes.
The bike has cross-top levers which I will be retaining.
Equipment wise, SRAM Apex and BB7 mechanical discs.

It's a minefield out there, so appreciate any suggestions.

Used the Jagwire road pro set last time. Very good full set of inners and outers. About £25, with everything including spacers and ferrules if you need them.

The latter were missing on my set so they sent another and said to dispose of the first set as I felt fit.

All the Jagwire stuff is good, use Road Pro on one of my Brompton and the fabulous but insanely expensive Elite Link on another...given that your old-fashioned penny-penny will only need one kit of each to do it rather than two, the Elite link should set you back around a hundred quid, half what it cost me to do the Brompton.

What are the Elite Link like, in comparison to the Road Pro?

THey're good, but they're not that much better than Road Pro and I only really got them for vanities sake...... You do notice that there is absolutely no compression effect as the calipers bite.... even on Road Pro there is a tiny change in modulation as the cable outer compresses slightly, adn that isn't there on the Links.... They also take an age to make up, a Brompton is fully cabled, there are no cable stops on the frame with runs of bare inner, I ended up using a Raod brake kit, a road gear kit adn two mountain bike brake kits to have enough links, but they do look gorgeous. I can't imagine I'll ever fit another set to a Brompton, though I might consider doing it to my Moulton cos I've got a fair amount of bits left over and there might be enough to do it, but the Bromptons will stick with Road Pro in future
