Hi All,

Dad's day is coming up and I think I'd like a book, hardback, on bicycle maintenance and set up - preferably including veloce rather than shim-specific.

I know there's a load of free stuff on YouTube, but that's not the point.

Are there any recognised standards?

Cheers,

TP

^ this one over the Haines book which I found to be a tad on the basic side (depending on where his skill set currently is).

park tools blue book. Confusingly it's listed as " volume 2" when it's really "2nd edition" - there isn't a volume 2. I preferred it to Zinn's book

I'd go for the Park book as being (apart from Park!) fairly brand neutral .. and very good illustrations making everything pretty obvious... and Amazon usually has it at a good price.

Thanks guys - my google searches can't find a hardback version of either. Am I out of luck on the front?

Just an FYI, the book is now in its 3rd iteration covering recent stuff like DI2 and 11 speed drivetrains.

have they called it volume 3 by chance?

If the Park Tool website help is anything to go by, the book must be awesome. Still tempted to buy it myself, as sometimes easier to read a book than scroll on my iPhone or iPad.
