I'm in the market for a cheap pair of cycling glasses (£30 or less). I was tempted to buy some Oakley Jawbreakers, but decided to be sensible. Unsure what kind of lens I want either. The cheap ones I have had up until now have had dark lenses which is fine when its sunny, but maybe not as great the rest of the time. The clear ones might be best but they don't look as cool as the coloured ones! Thoughts?

Bolle safety glasses via Ebay. Pick the style, and they are upto welding class for safety. AKA Bloody great.

Provided you can see without an insert.

Ah yes, I buy Aldi/Lidl specials as well!

I have clear and dark lenses. I like to have yellow lenses too for those inbetweeny days but I think I stood on my last pair and broke them ...

Yes. the aldi ones are fine though I preferred the ones they did a few months ago as they had interchangeable lenses so 3 pairs for £2.99 or so.

Let's face it, there are european standards for the basics of the non prescription lenses so then it's just a matter of whether you like the style.

And metal frames offer no practical advantage over plastic ones.

I prefer my £2.99 aldi jobbies to some Oakleys I paid over £200 for about 20 years ago.

True honest injun.

One benefit at least of aging - no longer need prescription inserts for distance.

Yes I got some of those.

Lomo do some decent sensibly priced stuff.

A good company.

Have bought drybags, tarps, water bottles etc from them.

But in truth, good value as those are, I didn't find them any better than the Aldis - and I think I got some of those for £1.99
