I want a 5x7 shed (too many bikes in the front room). Online is cheaper, but you don't get to see until delivered.

Any recommendations?

Huh?

What do you want to go to all that expense for? You've got a bathroom, a kitchen and a bedroom haven't you?

I was in this position about a year ago. My advice is to get as big a shed as you can. 5x7 won't leave you much room to move the bikes around. My experience is that metal or plastic sheds potentially are more secure but are much harder to erect and make watertight and always have condensation problems. I'd go for a wooden shed if I had to do this again and put some sort of ground anchor in before I put the shed up to chain the bikes too.

My recollection is that there's a good choice on the net. I used www.shedstore.co.uk. Prices were good and they delivered on time.

If you just need it for storing bikes (as opposed to working on them) I wouldn't bother with windows (more secure without). At 5x7 a pent roof's probably cheaper and easier to erect. If you go down the plastic or metal route allow for lining the roof (and maybe walls) with polystyrene insulation and for putting down a good base and frame to mount on.

Hope it goes well.

Youd be surprised how small 5 x 7 is. I have a 10 x 8 and have filled it with aeromodelling clutter. You won't have a lot of room to move your bikes around. I use an equivalent area at one end of our garage and my collection of bikes plus motor cycle makes the extraction of any one of them a delicate operation if I am to avoid cosmetically damaging the bikes.

It only needs to store 3 adult bikes and a couple of kids ones I intend to hang off the wall. I can currently get the 3 adult bikes into a wall store but want the extra room for the little ones.

Yeah? Give it a couple of months and there'll be all kinds of crap in there. Old curtains, fecking Christmas decorations. I've tried telling Her that this manner of stuff isn't appropriate shed filler but She won't listen.

Look carefully at the door position Mr Paul....i have an apex roofed wooden shed with the door in the middle of the 8ft panel. It allows bikes to be placed either or both sides of the shed. Mines an 8x6...i can get 5 bikes in...6 at a push, but ive got a bloomin great shelf at the back, 8 ft wiide....or it'd be bikes only in there ;)

Recommend a shed.

I recommend you get a shed. Hope that helps:biggrin:

But don't get a shed too much bigger than you really need or you'll end up filling it:wacko:

We thought 5,000 sq ft would be more than enough for Cyclemagic but within 3 months it was full and we're now looking at taking on the extra 2500 next door...
