Hi all,

Is there a good bicycle maintenance book I should invest in? I ask because there doesn't seem to be any 'stickies' for general maintenance and I need help, even for rudimentary stuff like like changing a tyre/tube or cable. Essential tools etc.

I don't get time to tinker due to family commitments and I'm a bit frightened of making some expensive school-boy errors. I can't afford to keep taking the bike to a shop each time something happens.

Bicycle Tutor should get you by for most things. This website has helped me immensely over the past months.

I've also got THIS, which seems pretty thorough. I've not had a proper look through it yet though.

Totally agree with Bicycle Tutor, an excellent site which has taught me lots.

Another thumbs up for Bike Tutor. It's where I learnt innit?

If you want a book, then you can't go wrong with Zinn and the Art of Road Bike (or Mountain bike) Maintenance

The one I use most is also the Haynes Bike Book. It's a bit superficial but it covers most things enough to give you an idea what to expect.

I think that Guy Andrews' book goes into more detail but it's the Haynes that lives in the garage and gets used when I'm actually playing.

My sister got me the Haynes manual fro Chrimbo. It is simplistic but will be great for letting the kids bimble their way through a few adjustments.
