i'm getting a pannier rack from someone via freecycle (couldn't resist), but the bike i'd ideally put it on has no upper attachment points on the seat stays, and only muguard eyes at the bottom. as the bike has 'guards fitted, i might be able to bodge it at the bottom with a long allen bolt.

any ideas how i might bodge the other bit?

failing that, the rack will either go on the wife's bike (and never get used), or on my mtb, which sees nothing rougher than a canal towpath.

I think there are brackets available that can attatch to your seat post ?

Some racks attach at the top at two points on the seatstays. In this case you'll want a couple of p-clips.
Other racks have a single point of attachment, via the brake bolt (in the same manner as a mudguard bridge) in which case you should be fine and dandy.

My rack which attaches by 2 places on the seat stays was done with a couple of old rear light mountings.
