Sorry for yet another lights thread... but this one is about rear lights

I'm going to replace my front light, a Lumotec Oval Plus, with an IQ Fly. I don't have a dyno rear light, I use the superb smart 1/2 watt superflash, but have read in many places that a dyno rear is recommended with an IQ Fly.

Is there a recommended dyno rear that isn't a rack or mudguard mount?

This one any use?

You'll need a suitable mount/bracket as well.

I know what you mean - I codge a mudguard mounted one to the seat stay but would love something that is just a simple seatpost mount!

That's definitely a stay mounting light yello, to fit that to a mudguard would need major surgery to either cut the fin off on the back of the light, or cut the mudguard to fit the fin through it. With a mount similar to this

or even better one of these

that light will fit any seat stay (the dyno bracket is better as it gives more scope for tilting the light to get it level without catching the lamp base on the stay).

I don't know what you've read but the manufacturer says it's fine without a rear light attached. Theoretically I suppose overvolting may shorten the LEDs life, but by how much? They start with a life expectancy of 100,000 hours even is you halved that (very unlikely) it'd still be more than you'll ever get to use it.

Yes, that was the nub of it. I like to follow recommendations if they are given because I believe that's why they are made... but I am weird like that! ;)

Colin, perhaps SJS have got the wrong picture - because whilst the wording says it's a stay fit is certainly looks shaped for a mudguard! Thanks for the info on the bracket btw, I can see how that'd work.
