I followed a cyclist for a while on the way home (in the snow) who had what I'm 90% sure was a rear light built into his saddle.

My saddle has a rear clip system, (ICS) which you could clip a light to.

In fact, I've found this light, but the one this giuy had looked like it was in line with the saddle, and nice and inconspicious for leaving on the bike. Bright too.

Anyone seen anything like that?

Thanks

Steve

There may be an issue with clothing......

My wife's bike had a very short seatpost, and I had mounted a light.... it wasn't until winter and a waterproof and it blocked the light.

I suspect a seat mounted light would be even more prone to obstruction.

I've not seen a saddle with a built in light, but I have seen lights mounted on the upright part of the saddle rails immediately below the saddle top (eg cateye LD600).
As stated, the problem is that your jacket hangs over the top of the light and obscures it.

I have a Specialized Vegas rear light that the seatpost mounting broke on a while ago. It's a similar shape to the Cateye LD600 and I now have it cable tied to the saddle rails. It sits right under the saddle and works really well.

I have one built into the seat on my Marin Farifax. It came with the bike, but is only held on with a couple of self tappers, so I'm expecting it to vanish one day when I lock it up somewhere

I have seen an ad for a red light mounted into the cut away section of a saddle. I assumed it was part of the saddle construction. I'll post a link/manufacturer if I can remember where I saw the ad.

Edinburgh cycles in the winter catalogue.Seatpost with light.

Got one.
Post is nothing special and I would have preferred a better fixing for the saddle but otherwise perfectly acceptable. The light fits v neatly but could be stolen by a hoodie with a small screwdriver who was looking for a light with no other use or application.
Absolutely ideal for teenagers who keep losing, breaking, forgeting, their lights.
