Rear brake disk or bearings? Help...

Hi Guys, I seem to have had never ending problems with the rear end of my Cube Aim Disk 2013 Hardtail 29er (only had it since Christmas). The first problem was a build issue (the rear wheel wasn't true - this took a loooong time for Chain Reaction to rectify).

Now however, despite a great ride on Monday, and what started as a great ride today (smooth, some climbs, no bumps/humps etc) it suddenly started to feel sluggish, and I had to fight it in higher gear to keep it going. Stopped to flip the bike over for a look, my ride mate has more knowledge than me (as you might guess) and he seems to think the following - the rear axle etc. needs a clean and a re-greasing, or the brake disk has become warped, or the bearings are going... I can see no warping of the rear wheel, and the frame seems fine too. I've got a free service due at Halfords (got the service plan) and will taake it there, but will first strip, clean etc. and see how it goes. the wheel rotates with 0 resistance backwards...

If your disc is binding you can generally hear it rubbing on the rotor. Take the wheel out and then spin it holding the axle at each end. If it binds you have your answer, clean and grease the bearings, assuming the cones and bearing races are good. If it runs free and smooth then you could be looking at disc brake adjustment.

Cheers, I took the wheel out, cleaned everything up, re oiled and put it back together, the problem, if anything, is worse.

I must confess to not being great mechanically when it comes to this sort of thing.

I can't see anywhere where the wheel, disk etc. is rubbing against anything, so I should imagine its the bearings.

Is this the kind of thing its best to do yourself? or should I take it to Halfords for its service (will they charge me a lot for a simple job like this?)

If I get time this evening, I'll read through the manual, and figure out how to take the wheel apart...
