Rattling in chest when I exhale - should I race?

Damn and double damn!

I'm in South Africa and last Saturday I went for a 46 mile leg loosener with a big crowd of locals. It was at 5000 ft so I was breathing harder than usual, inhaling a lot of road dust, which was probably contaminated with all kinds of bacteria and mold spores. Somebody in the group may also have spat and I inhaled the spray, who knows?

On Sunday morning I felt ropey and my chest was rattling on breathing, classic and familiar symptoms of a chest infection. Went to a pharmacy and got a course of Amoxycillin, no prescription needed here.

Been taking the Amoxy for three days now, two to go, feeling better but still getting a rattling sound of fluid deep in my lungs when I exhale, especially first thing in the morning when I'm lying in bed.

I think I'll go to see a Dr this afternoon but I'm worried he might tell me not to ride the Cape Argus on Sunday, which is the whole point of me being here.

Anybody got any experience of this kind of thing?

Nope - I've never been to South Africa!

I hope you are well enough to ride at the weekend and have a great time.

I thought that your recent posts at about 3 am UK time were a bit early even by your standards, but now I understand why.

Maybe its a mechanic you need to see, not a doctor, your nipples might have come loose on the inside and they need tightening.
