Going out for a brisk run with the local Road Club has its rewards:-

Moist yet crunchy and not too sweet, this healthy-sized wedge powered me the 35 odd miles home after the halfway stop.

It is one of the things I miss about the UK - club runs in France (well, my club in my part of France) DON'T do cake stops. To my mind, it's unforgivable!

I was always partial to slabs of bread pudding. None of your delicate pastries for me, oh no, good solid slabs of stodge have always been my favourite.

So that cake looks a little light for my tastes betty, but it does have potential... and I sure as hell wouldn't refuse it!

the tea threaders will tut, that looks like coffee.

i find that keeping towards the front of the group as the café approaches, and the ability to sprint, is crucial in making sure carrot cake is available…
