I cannot find much if not any thoughts on this make of bicycle.
In the process of research for my new touring bike. So, looking at all possible makes. Though have to say at the moment, Claude butler dalesman is top of my wish list.
Though, to be honest at the top of my budget to. Would love your thoughts.

I had a raleigh urban pioneer fitted with mudguards and rack...bought it from Halfords and had to take it back 14 times before getting rid!
TBH though not sure how much of it was the bike and how much of it was the place of purchase!

Cheers Russ
I had a raleigh mtb years ago and it was ok, nothing went wrong. But looking back it didn't make you want to go out on it either. Just used it to get to work.

Not the same company of old, the old Nottingham firm went south and got bought by Far East Venture Capitalists I think...their road bikes are well regarded but most models are certainly at the bottom end it seems

Many people do rate the Raleigh Royal and at 500 quid for a Steele frame I can see why. Paint job does chip easily according to various reviews I have seen. And I would prefer down tube shifters over stis on a touring bike but that's just me.

Ash Cycles £395 free delivery

Plain guage Cr-Mo tubes (heavy but bullet proof)

Sora/Altus kit - good reliable entry level stuff

Crap colour and only 3 sizes though.

Dawes charge twice the price for the same spec.

I have a Raleigh alu-carbon road bike, no probs and their customer service centre is in Nottingham and they actually answer the phone quickly.

Got a raleigh Firefly MTB (hardtail). It's a piece of shoot to be honest, but I only use it for pulling my boys (4 and 2) around in a trailer. My main bike is a Pinarello Quattro which is just pure joy. The MTB is awful to ride, really heavy and has soft brakes and spongy gears, but it was only £125 4yrs ago, so I can't complain. Probably should replace it soon, as it's a bit rusty and the gears are starting to go, and it's not worth paying for the replacement parts.

Just wanted to agree with this.

I bought a cheap Raleigh road bike for my turbo trainer, and had to find out the size of the axle nuts so I could replace them with ones that would fit the turbo. I phoned Raleigh customer service, the phone was answered quickly, by someone who actually WAS British rather than just speaking an approximation of the English language, I was put straight through to the technical department, and put on hold for 2 minutes before the tech guy came back with an answer.

Very impressed.
