I have been playing in my shed today
I have some pieces of plywood and decided to make a bag box for the rear rack.
I measured insidethe plastic tray to start and it is 12" x 7 1/4". Good enough for the base measurement.
Then took a rough measurement of the height to the seat. Cant remember the height.
Started to cut some plywood to size and shape.
This plywood used to be panels in doors from my neighbours house.
These houses were built in the early 1950's and hte panels from 5 doors have made a few items.
I had some off cuts and good size pieces, but had to make a base with 3 pieces.
It is all held together with masking tape and is square. I am going to glue it all together with epoxy resin glue.
First will be the inside joins. Easier to mask up all of the outside joins than the inside. The epoxy resin should flow into the joins.
Then when all set, epoxy resin the outside joins.
I have thought of cutting up a piece of inner tube and running a strip along the back where the hinge / hinges will go and even thought about just having a rubber strip hinge. I might take the plastic tray off and bolt it to the rack with carriage bolts.
I have yet to strip the paint off and cover it. I am thinking blue tartan sticky back plastic, if I can get some. If not, I will hunt ebay for some blue tartan skirts and cut them up and glue them on.
Done that years ago with womens leather skirt to recover a motorbike seat. Works well and a bargain if no one bids and a win at £0.99p for leather.
