Anyone on here had any experience of them?

Seriously looking at changing from my Hybrid to a Cyclocross soon as I want something a little more road orientated but still have the ability to use it all year round and on other surfaces than roads.

Been having a look at numerous bike websites at the 2014 ranges and one that has caught my eye is the Raleigh RX Elite. It looks good, seems well specced and is a good price (£800) but is there a reason I should steer clear?

Probably not really, but Raleigh is not the brand it was many, many years ago, although to be fair they are having a resurgence at the moment.

You'll definitely stand out as I doubt you'll see many others on the same bike, but mainly due to badge snobbery I suspect.

Would I buy one? No. I do agree with goody and would buy the Cannondale every time. If you don't like or can't get a 2013 model, the 2014 model has gone black and is the same price as the Raleigh

I stand to be corrected, but I think the Raleigh cyclocross bikes are a completely new model range for 2014, so I doubt anyone on here has tried them yet.

Raleigh are under new (Dutch) ownership who I would expect to be keen on getting the quality up. The spec looks reasonable, however that Cannondale does look pretty good for the money.

Some of the new Raleighs look damned good, having just viewed the website

However, they're still not putting geometry/measurements on the site, just the old rubbish about heights for various frame-sizes

If they are interested in selling to riders willing to spend £3,000, or more, on a new bike, you'd think they'd have the first information that is required available to view
