Raleigh opinion

My dad has started to come out with me and looking at getting him a racer....raleigh nova sport 10 speed..it has a little luggage carrier on which he quite fancies.
Has anyone owned one and are they decent...

All depends what you mean by 'decent' - they are from a past age but ok. A friend had one [and I've just googled them] might not win the TDF but if he likes it I can't see any problems.
PS, change the brake pads - you never know where they've been and if they're original they'll be poor at best - just a thought.
