I was off viewing quite a substantial amount of Raleigh cycles,70s and 80s bikes but I'm trying to figure out what model this bike is if anyone can help and a rough guide of the bikes age

Good morning,

A useful first reply ….. I don’t know. 🙂

But I would start with an early 1980s The Winner/Winner.

Try about eight pages down https://bikalog.org/api/view/Raleigh/1984/raleigh-1984-racers.pdf

Bye

Ian

Is this another new old stock one ?

Hubs and brake calipers will be date coded

Yes,you can see the warranty booklet still attached to the seat.
I'd been away viewing last night. He has roughly 50 nos Raleigh and triumph cycles stretching back to the early 60s but...it's tricky talking him into selling them.
Even spotted a kids Raleigh dart convertible,a bike I'd never seen until last night, still in delivery packaging

Wow, I had a Dart when I was a child, it had solid rubber tyres!

Wow! the Winner brings back memories. I had a Puch Pacemaker 5 speed in the early eighties. My friend (with slightly more affluent parents than I aspired to) was bought a Raleigh Winner. It was stunning compared to mine. A 'proper' Raleigh with 10 speed (although the one in the pic looks to be single chainring). The real bonus was the lazy-brakes and the foam handlebar grippers compared to my cheap plastic tape. The envy. I soon upgraded to a Dawes Fox and was king of the road again...

Winner, c.1983. It even has the OE handlebar foam.

Is it a NoS bike?

It is indeed. The warranty paperwork and Raleigh multi spanner attached to the seatpost

Nice. Won't be worth a huge amount as they have no desirable attributes at all, but someone will have had one as a bairn (my best mate had one - I had exactly the same bike but with solid blue paint and badged as a Triumph) and might want another.

My guess is £125-150ish. They were £89 new - I remember well as the Triumph was made by Raleigh and was identical bar paint and badges and was £79 - being tight (I am a scotsman after all) I went for the Triumph and kept the tenner, but my mates dad bought him the Winner so we wouldn't have the same bike.

There will be a date code on the rear of Huret rear mech, but the foam bars marks it as '82 onwards.
