Raleigh bike with tange 5 frame

bit unusual tange 5 frame
exgage motion group set
frame number starts with a g
place of orgin new Zealand bought from Craig Adair cycles Christchurch
any help

I reckon it's a late far eastern made frame badges as Raleigh?

I don't think it's a particularly good frame as it's plain gauge or I would assume it is from the PG rating!

Not a bad bike but nothing special prob same level as Reynolds 501?

Exage would have been about claris level??

I saw this advertised, but didn't bid.

Tange #5 is plain gauge, heavier tubing aimed at the touring market. It's Reynolds 501 equivalent at best.

Looks different though.

Ditch the saddle for something intact and ride it, maybe tweak the positioning of the bars a bit.

A tyre on the front would probably be useful too.

The colouring is very, very cool.

Plain gauge, as I recall. Roughly analogous to 501. A bit higher than entry level but not quite mid range tubing.

Looks OK. Should make a nice steed.

Paint scheme and kit put it around 1991, but you'll find a date code on the rear of the cran, arms.

Strangely enough there's this Tange tubes Raleigh locally and I have never seen a Raleigh with Tange tubing before.
