can't get my trousers past my huge thighs!!
hey there was wondering if anybody could help me raise the handle bars on my Carrera tdf.

it has a ''cartridge system inside' label on the top.....can only find the bolts that attach the handlebars to the stem.......had a loosen off of the set nearest the cartridge but would have taken the handlebars off altogether.....don't want to fu*k the new bike so if somebody could point me in the right direction so I could take care of it tonight it would be much appreciated!!!

cheers

Stop! You need to have a basic understanding of what's going on before you go any further. The handlebars on modern bikes can't be raised like they could in the past by simply loosening a bolt and pulling the stem upwards. I suspect yours are at the top of their range of adjustment already, with 'spacers'* underneath the stem on the 'steerer'* (the tube at the top of the forks) but may be raised a little more by 'flipping the stem'*
* Google this - read up on - Sheldon Brown
If you need even more height you might have to buy a more steeply angled stem or a stem extender.

yeah theres definitely spacers there and don't think I trust myself to flip the stem!!! I raised the saddle up to get my legs to full stretch and the handles seem about an inch too short to be completely comfortable....especially when moving deep down to use the drop bar. found myself sitting fairly comfortable when sitting upright gripping the flats of the bars.....but the brakes are down at the lower part of the bar and found myself goin up and down a lot to brake!!

it's early days and might just have to get used to the bike but if I find it uncomfortable I will see what the store says when I service the bike.

Go to a bike shop tell them what you want and they will sort you out with a stem that has an incline, or even just flip yours if it is at a downward incline
