I fitted a "Tour Ultralite" rack to my Orro Terra gravel bike as I'll be planning some more distant cycles this year. To go with it, I ordered an "ETC" branded 12L bag that has velcro strips on the bottom. When I loop the velcro strips underneath they only overlap by about 2 - 3cm and have a lot of spare left over. I've included a few photos below as an example. Am I doing something wrong? I thought it should be fairly simple - it's almost like my rack is too thin but didn't think they were much thicker than this.

It's the very same as this Rockbros branded one.

Any ideas?

Hard to tell from those pics, but with all that leftover strap, are you sure you have routed them correctly? From what I CAN see, it looks as if maybe they should be looping back around the frame of the rack somehow.

I had a similar issue with my bag (different brand but the kind that you find on Amazon). In my case it wasn't that the straps were too long, but the velcro didn't go far enough up the strap so I had very little available to stick. My rack has a wide top. The result was that the bag would flop over to one side when riding.

It might be that the more budget brands skimp on the velcro.

My solution was to convert it into a Topeak style clip fitting. I bought the Topeak adapter for the rack but made my own runner for the base of the bag from thin plywood (bolted through to another thin piece of ply inside the bag, which gives the bag a more solid base too). Now it slides on nice and easily, locks in place and sits straight.

I've found it tricky to see the problem from your photos. The advice I can offer is this. When I've used this combination of similar rack and bag I've zip tied a piece of rigid plastic to the rack. This creates a solid platform for the bag to sit on. You can then cut slots in the appropriate places to feed the straps through.

I've also used small bungee straps as a belt across the top of the bag.

I had similar issues many moons ago: ended up giving the bag to a cycling charity, I didn't think of the possible solutions mentioned on this thread!

The rack is very narrow at only 109mm.
Have the same issue with a Topeak rack pack with Velcro straps, unsurprising as Topeak racks are 170mm wide for example
My Altura one is better, still to try the Zefal one I bough eons ago.
Probably trial and error or do some adaptation
