I think he means "bit", where is it rubbing, any pictures?

what i have found with that type of guard is you can bend the metal stays a bit to increase tyre clearence also if using them a lot instead of carboard just use insulating tape not to stop slipping or increase clearence but to stop the forks and frame being marked as long term use can casue rubbing marks please note picture of scraped bianchi frame that had them fitted.
lol, frame was scraped due to accident not because of mudguards.

Take the cardboard out, get the fit right and then use duct tape just on the edges either side of where you want the black rubber/plastic supports to stay. This is not a 'rubber strap tightness' issue (as in round the fork/seatstays), it's a 'mudguard slipping in its supports' issue.
